Our Consulting Ministers
Our consulting ministers at North Shore Unitarian Universalists, Rev. Jim VanderWeele and Rev. Melanie Morel-Ensminger,
serve our religious community on a part-time basis. In addition to leading our worship services, Rev. Melanie and Rev.
Jim provide pastoral care and ministerial services to our religious community. Also they work with the Board, staff,
and church committees on administrative and institutional concerns.

The Gulf Coast Volunteers for the Long Haul
The Gulf Coast Volunteers for the Long Haul, founded by the late Rev. Mary Harrington after Hurricanes Katrina & Rita in November 2005, returns to the New Orleans area several times a year. NSUUS usually hosts a dinner for the volunteers while they are here. NSUUS is proud to be a partner with Long Haul in the long-term recovery and renaissance of the Gulf Coast and Greater New Orleans area.
In Memoriam
Along with her many friends, family, and former parishioners, NSUUS mourns the loss of the Reverend Mary Harrington following her death on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 6:00 AM from ALS. Rev. Mary was a faithful friend to NSUUS and to all the people of the Gulf Coast and Greater New Orleans. She was so moved by the plight of the people after the federal levees broke in 2005 that she established the Gulf Coast Volunteers for the Long Haul, because, as she always said, she was in it for the "long haul." Rev. Mary was an inspiring writer, a compassionate pastor, and a gifted preacher, as well as a loving wife and mother and giving friend. While Rev. Mary will always be missed, her ministry goes on. At the time of her death, Rev. Mary requested memorial donations to the Gulf Coast Volunteers for the Long Haul-MJH Fund:
so that the work may go on.
